Description

This stunning lavender saree is made of silk georgette and features bandhani. Bandhani is an ancient tie-dye technique that dates back to 4,000 BCE. It is a highly skilled process and involves tying portions of the fabric with thread before dying, to produce intricate patterns. Here, Bandhani has been created on georgette, a type of crêpe fabric that is sheer and lightweight, and has a dull, matte finish. It is made with highly twisted yarns. The fabrics characteristic crinkly surface is created by alternating S- and Z-twist yarns in both the warp and weft. The allure of the georgette weave is further enhanced by the innate sheen and comfort that silk offers.
